New Gene Therapy Podcast Series

Read about our new podcast series.

The Irish Haemophilia Society, in collaboration with the Canadian Hemophilia Society, have recently completed a series of four podcasts on haemophilia gene therapy. The series is entitled “Haemophilia Gene Therapy – From Dream to Reality”. The series focuses on FIX gene therapy as the currently licensed FVIII gene therapy  is not being made available outside of the US, Germany and Italy.

The podcasts will be available to watch and download on our website. The first podcast, which has just been released, features Dr. David Lillicrap from Canada and outlines what haemophilia gene therapy is and how it works.

The second podcast, which will be released on February 11, features four people with haemophilia discussing  their interest or non interest in receiving haemophilia gene therapy. The participants include three people with haemophilia from Ireland – James Foley, Brian O’Loughlin and Joseph Walsh and David Page from Canada.

The third podcast, which will be released on February 18, features four people discussing their experience having received FIX gene therapy. Participants are Daan Breederveld from the Netherlands, John Curley from the UK, Stephen Brown from Canada and Brian O’Mahony from Ireland.

The fourth podcast, which will be released on February 25, discusses shared decision making and gene therapy. Speakers are Dr. Pratima Chowdary from the UK, Dr. Davide Matino from Canada, David Page from Canada and Brian O’Mahony from Ireland.
