For adults with haemophilia today with proper treatment, the life expectancy is almost the same as those without haemophilia. Although adults with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders living in Ireland are fortunate in that they have access to factor replacement therapy, they still face a range of challenges throughout their lifetime.
It is important that people with haemophilia or related bleeding disorders learn to recognise the signs and symptoms of a bleeding episode so that they can react as soon as possible with the correct treatment. Although there may be some limitations on physical activities, it is important that you, your family and friends see that living with haemophilia or a related bleeding disorder, doesn’t mean you can’t lead a normal and active life.
