IPPOSI Patient Education Programme 2019 Open for Applications

The IPPOSI Patient Education Programme 2019 is now open for applications – the deadline for applications in midnight on Sunday, November 18, 2018.

The programme delivers training for patients, carers and advocates living in the Republic of Ireland on health research and innovation. This includes education modules on clinical trials, medicines regulatory affairs and health technology assessment.

The programme is designed to enable and empower more patients and patient advocates to work effectively with Irish and EU-level health research & technology partners, agencies & authorities.

The programme thus supports new research and policy advances in areas where the importance of a strong patient voice is called for, but where there is currently clearly a shortage of patient contributors with the right skills set.

The programme is being led by IPPOSI, in partnership with a number of education partners, and will cover the following topics:

• Understanding Clinical Trials – delivered by the University College Dublin Clinical Research Centre

• Regulatory Affairs, Medicinal Product & Medical Device Safety, and Pharmacovigilance – delivered by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA)

• Health Technology Assessment principles and practices – delivered by the Dept. of Medicine & Therapeutics, Trinity College Dublin, in association with the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics (NCPE) and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)
